Heartbeats has launched the first of a programme of professionally delivered support services across North and Central/West Auckland.
PROGRAMME
Psychological Counselling and Psychological Support
This is a four-week programme of weekly group psychological counselling for heart event survivors, with each session of 1.5 hours – a total of six hours for a total cost of $310 per person (a 75% discount for standard 1:1 psychological services).
The programme will be facilitated and undertaken by Vanessa Garcia, a qualified Health Psychologist, who works exclusively with heart event survivors.

Vanessa Garcia H. is a Cardiac Health Psychologist who offers online and in-person services at her Heart Mind Psychology Private Practice based on Auckland North Shore. She is passionate about the mind-body connection and takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Vanessa works with a range of people including those who have experienced sudden cardiac events, cardiac surgery, medical trauma, inherited or congenital cardiac conditions, and more. The sessions are face-face and would focus on adjustment, mood & anxiety management, and engaging meaningfully with life.
There will be no more than six persons per group.
Handouts, resources and psychometric testing are included.
The face-face group sessions will be held in Orewa and Sunnynook and may be extended to Central and West Auckland.
IMPORTANT
Heartbeats is arranging and under-writing these sessions but will have no involvement in how they are undertaken, or any personal information shared in the group. They will be conducted by Vanessa Garcia as a qualified professional specialist, under patient/client privilege and full confidentiality.
These group counselling sessions are open to both the Public and Heartbeats members.
