WHERE: Exercise Physiology Dept., Auckland University Newmarket Campus
WHEN: Enrolments from 15th June through to 1st September 2023
A twelve (12) week exercise programme (two one-hour sessions per week) of personal, carefully monitored, gym-based exercises led by qualified Exercise Physiologists.
Programme includes:
Highly personalised ratio of one Exercise Physiologist to three participants
Two one-hour assessments of cardiac fitness for the programme, which includes:
– Measurement of cardiopulmonary (heart-lung) function and respiratory oxygen use under treadmill test
– Musculoskeletal and physical movement assessment
A personal exercise ‘prescription’ to continue after completion, with follow ups at 3 and 6 months after you finish the programme.
During the twelve-week programme participants are provided with individualised counselling support (as needed and requested), as well as personal dietary advice to help with ongoing heart health management.
These services are provided by qualified and registered healthcare professionals.
During the 12-week exercise programme, participants may join the Heartbeats group in the locality closest to where they live and gain extra support and education for their heart condition from that group and from the Heartbeats organisation. Membership is free.
They can then continue as a member of the Heartbeats community of heart event for as long as they feel is needed to support them on their heart health journey.
